Aussie using cocaine 'since 1996': "Angus McCaskill, 57, was arrested at a supermarket in Bali's Kuta tourist area on June 30 with five plastic pouches containing 3.58 grams of cocaine, police say.
He has been charged with three offences, the most serious of which carries a maximum 12 year sentence.
Advertisement: Story continues below His trial began in the Denpasar District Court on Thursday.
'The defendant has been consuming cocaine since 1996 in Australia and the last time the defendant used cocaine was just before his arrest,' prosecutor Ida Ayu Ketut Retnasari Kusuma Dewi said.
After his arrest, McCaskill admitted the drugs were his and said he'd made a 'silly mistake'.
'I'm very, very sorry,' he said at the time."
