Police seize drugs, guns, cash in bust - NovaScotia - TheChronicleHerald.ca: "Six kilograms of cocaine and nearly two kilograms of marijuana are off the streets of Cumberland County.
Overnight Tuesday, about 50 police officers descended on Springhill, Amherst, Joggins, River Hebert and Minudie, arresting nine people on charges of drug trafficking. Four of them were also charged with conspiracy to commit trafficking.
'We have been busy,' Dean Ruddick, acting chief of the Springhill Police Service, said Wednesday.
'When we’re talking about those quantities, it’s going to have a major impact on the drug trade of Cumberland County.'
The arrests occurred simultaneously to avoid tipping off the suspects.
Also seized during the raids were 20 firearms, five vehicles and an undisclosed amount of money.
Four of those arrested will appear today in Amherst provincial court. The remaining five will appear in court at a later date."
