La Paz. El poderoso narcotraficante boliviano Marco Antonio Roca fue detenido en la región amazónica de Beni por la policía antidroga, según un comunicado de la Fuerza Especial de Lucha Contra el Narcotráfico (Felcn).

Marco Antonio Roca, alias el "presidente", había sido extraditado a Bolivia en 2005 desde Colombia para ser enjuiciado por tráfico de drogas, pero se había dado a la fuga y permanecía prófugo desde entonces, indica la nota.

Un Juzgado boliviano lo declaró culpable en ausencia y lo sentenció a 16 años de cárcel.

Agentes de la Felcn lo detuvieron el jueves 23 de septiembre en la ciudad de Trinidad, (noreste) luego de percatarse que pesaba en su contra un mandamiento de captura para cumplir su pena carcelaria.

Roca -trasladado el viernes a la cárcel de Abra, en el departamento de Cochabamba (centro)- es catalogado por la Felcn como "un pez gordo", toda vez que fue vinculado con importantes clanes del narcotráfico en Bolivia y por haber purgado condenas en Colombia, Estados Unidos y Perú por transporte y tráfico de drogas, armas y dinero, entre 1994 y 2005.

Mark Shady, 32, of 1362 Lusk Run Road, is charged with 14 counts of delivery of cocaine, 15 counts of possession with intent to deliver, two counts of corrupt organizations, one count of criminal use of a communication facility and one count of conspiracy to deliver cocaine, according to state Attorney General Tom Corbett.Agents estimate the group was responsible for moving more than seven kilograms of cocaine with a street value of more than $780,000 since at least 2004. Corbett said the investigation started focusing mainly on Shady's alleged distribution of cocaine in Lock Haven, Williamsport and the surrounding areas. From there, agents were able to identify two of his cocaine sources.Evidence and testimony about the alleged criminal activity was presented to a statewide investigating grand jury, which recommended the charges being filed Friday. U.S. Customs and Border Protection arrested two women who attempted to smuggle more than 12 pounds of cocaine concealed in two false sided bags. Guinyard presented one Pullman style bag for inspection. During her interview, Guinyard indicated that she was traveling with Browne. Upon examination of her bag, CBP officers noticed that the inside walls of the bag felt unusually thick and heavy.
